Boxing combination guide
How to Throw the 1-2-3 Boxing Combination
The 1-2-3 is the lead jab, rear cross, and lead hook. It combines straight punches with a hook and teaches you to stay connected through the sequence.
See the combination: FightCamp’s beginner combinations video.
Step by step
Start in your boxing stance. Send the lead jab straight out and bring it back. Throw the rear cross while rotating the rear hip and shoulder. Finish with a compact lead hook, turning through the hips without swinging your arm wide.
AR Boxing sequence: ljh-rch-lhh

Practice it three ways
Shadow box slowly for technique, repeat it with a steady rhythm, and then add a small defensive exit after the hook. Always return both hands to guard before repeating.
Common beginner mistakes
- Reaching with the jab instead of returning it to guard.
- Keeping the rear hip locked during the cross.
- Swinging the hook from too far away.
- Standing still after the final punch.
